Century Link Communications wish to raise awareness of the local maritime community as to the presence of their submarine fibre optic cables that make landfall at Amador, in particular in the area close to designated merchant ship anchorage adjacent to Flamenco Island.  AIS monitoring has indicated vessels anchoring close to or inside the power cable anchor exclusion zone.  This represents a severe risk to both the submarine cables, which represent part of the critical Panamanian infrastructure, and to the vessels.  We request that vessel observe the 500m anchor excision zone as indicated on the Amador Cable Awareness Chart.
